Russia has the right to demand compensation from Western countries for damage caused to it since 2014. This point of view was expressed by the Federation Council commission for the protection of state sovereignty.
The commission also said that the West must conclude a comprehensive agreement with Russia on its terms in order to avoid a repeat of the Cold War. The Commission for the Protection of State Sovereignty was set up by the Russian government in 2007. It was created to protect the interests of the Russian people and to protect their sovereignty.
