Russian and North Korean officials met for three days to discuss security issues. The two countries are subject to international sanctions over the Ukraine crisis.

North Korea has been supplying Russia with weapons in exchange for its help in the Ukraine conflict. The talks were held in Pyongyang, North Korea's capital, to discuss the future of the region's relations with Russia and the region in general. The meeting was the first of its kind between the two countries since the outbreak of the Korean War in 1950s. It was also the first time the two nations had met in person.
