British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak wants to curb irregular migration through deportations to Rwanda. A parliamentary committee has now given a clear verdict on the project.

The committee included representatives from both Sunak's ruling Tory party and the opposition. The draft law stipulates that irregular arrivals can in future be sent from Great Britain to Rwanda, which will be classified as a safe third country. The British government hopes that this will have a deterrent effect on migrants, and a corresponding agreement has already been concluded with the government in Kigali.
