Next Sunday, Rwanda will begin commemorating the 30th anniversary of the genocide that it witnessed in 1994. More than 800,000 men, women and children were killed, most of whom were Tutsis.

In addition to the Tutsi victims, a number of moderate Hutus were also killed in massacres in which family members and friends turned against each other. Three decades later, the small country has rebuilt itself under President Paul Kagame's dictatorial rule, but the shocking legacy of genocide still reverberates.
