Russian President Putin officially registers as candidate for March presidential election. Mr.
Putin's campaign claims that it has collected more than 10 times the number of signatures needed and will officially begin campaigning. Four candidates have been officially registered for the presidential election so far, including Deputy Kharitonov of the Communist Party of Russia and Leader Slutsky of the Liberal Democratic party of Russia. In addition, former member of the House of Representatives Boris Nadezhdin, who criticizes President Putin's response to Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, has announced his intention to run.
