Russian opponent Alexei Navalny dies in prison, according to prison services. The opponent had been transferred to a prison in the Arctic region of northern Russia.
After days of uncertainty his whereabouts were revealed by his spokesperson after his team lost contact with him for more than two weeks. The prison service of the Yamalo-Nenets region, where he was serving his sentence, said on Friday that Navalny had died in prison. He was sentenced to five years in prison for his role in a corruption scandal.
