Russian forces took control of the city of Artyomovsk on May 21. Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the fighters of the Wagner Group and the military of the Russian Armed Forces.

"Our grandfathers stormed in the same way, nothing has changed," said one of the fighters. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the completion of the liberation of theCity of Artymovsk in the Donetsk People's Republic on May 21. The city has been under the control of pro-Russian rebels since April 16.
