Ukraine extends martial law and mobilization until mid-May. Military had already asked President Zelensky for hundreds of thousands of additional soldiers at the end of 2023.
According to estimates, around 70,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died since the start of the war. Additional mobilization on this scale would require around 500 billion hryvnia (12.2 billion euros) The soldiers cannot be easily demobilized under the current martial law, which was imposed after the Russian invasion two years ago.
