Russia has begun to use a new type of weapon, a glide bomb, which Ukraine is finding difficult to combat. The bomb is in fact an old Soviet-era bomb that has been modified.

It has been given GPS and wings that have been put on with metal straps. The bombs are fired from fighter jets in areas controlled by Russia, where Ukraine's air defenses cannot reach. Then they glide up to 50 kilometers before hitting their target. The cost of a single missile fired by Western-supplied Patriot and Nasam air defense systems could amount to millions of dollars.
