The China-Central Asian summit took place in the Chinese city of Xi'an. The leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan met to discuss the "Belt and Road" initiative.

The summit is the first time the leaders of the five countries have met in more than a decade. It is seen as an attempt by China to gain influence in the region at the expense of Russia, which has long played a key role in the Silk Road trade routes.
