On February 21, the State Duma adopted a law denouncing the 1956 agreement that allowed sailors from Great Britain to fish in the Russian zone of the Barents Sea. On March 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law calling for the denunciation of the fisheries agreement with the UK. The Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko has proposed to denounce international agreements that are unfavorable to Moscow.
