Chinese authorities warned Ukraine that bilateral relations could suffer due to recognition by the Ukrainian authorities of Chinese companies as “sponsors of war.” China conveyed a corresponding message with a warning to the Ukrainian side in December 2023 at a meeting of the Chinese ambassador in Kyiv with Ukrainian officials. According to the agency, in total, Ukraine has added 48 companies to the list of “international war sponsors,” 14 of which are Chinese.
Earlier, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that China opposes Ukraine’s decision to add the Chinese company China Railway Construction Corporation.
