Syria and Iraq report deaths from US attacks on pro-Iranian militias. Syria state media quoted a military statement as saying that "a number of civilians and soldiers were killed" and others were injured in the nighttime attacks.
The government of Iraq reported 16 dead and 25 injured and condemned the attacks as a "new aggression against Iraqi sovereignty" The US bombed targets in Iraq and Syria linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and the militias they support in retaliation for the deaths of three US soldiers in a drone strike in Jordan.
