Resolution not calling for the deployment of “nuclear weapons in outer space” to be submitted to the UN Security Council. Foreign Minister Kamikawa, who is visiting New York in the United States, says that he will not deploy weapons of mass destruction.

Japan strongly believes that outer space should remain a domain free of nuclear weapons. It is our responsibility to comply with existing legal frameworks such as the Outer Space Treaty, which stipulates the use of space, Kamikawa says. The timing of submission will be adjusted in the future.
