Religious parties threaten to withdraw from Netanyahu's coalition due to the conscription law. The ultra-Orthodox religious parties represent about 13% of the total number of Jews in Israel.

Netanyahu proposed in his meeting with the government's legal advisor to recruit 2,500 Haredim annually, while the army's need for at least 20,000 soldiers. According to military officials, the army needs to recruit more soldiers “in light of the increasing threats” based on intelligence estimates about the possibility of escalation.
