Muslims in the United States take advantage of the month of Ramadan to introduce followers of other religions to Islam. Many Islamic centers, mosques and universities organize free Ramadan Iftar tables for fasting people.

It is not known for certain how many Muslims there are in the U.S., but experts estimate that Muslims account for between 1 and 2 percent of the total US population of 333 million, or between 3.3 million and 6.6 million. Many Muslim families from the greater Washington area are keen to come to prayers and eat iftar.
