Russian President Vladimir Putin, by decree, recreated the Moscow and Leningrad military districts. The Moscow Military District is established within the administrative boundaries of the Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Voronezh, Ivanovo, Kaluga, Kostroma, Kursk, Lipetsk, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod and Oryol regions.
The Lening rad Military District includes the city of St. Petersburg and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
