Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his re-election as head of Turkey. In the telegram, the Russian leader called Erdogan a friend and noted that Moscow appreciates the contribution of the Turkish president to strengthening Russian-Turkish relations.

The Russian leader reaffirmed his readiness to continue the dialogue between Moscow and Ankara. According to Anadolu, after processing 99.45% of the ballots, Erdogan is gaining 52.10%. His opponent Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is gaining 47.90%.
