Russian President Vladimir Putin approved a law simplifying the procedure for recognizing military personnel as missing and dead in the zone of a special military operation. A military man can be declared missing within six months.

At the same time, for the issuance of a death certificate, a statement by the commander who saw that his subordinate had died will be sufficient. Current legislation suggests that a soldier can be declaring dead only two years after the end of hostilities, and all this time military families cannot receive the payments and benefits they are entitled to.
