Prime Minister Kishida said he would reconsider how land should be used from the perspective of emphasizing the relationship with residents' lives. The Ministry of Defense's plan to build a training ground for the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force on the site of a former golf course in Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture, has been met with a series of opposing opinions from the local community.
The Okinawa Prefectural Assembly unanimously passed a written opinion this month calling for the plan to be withdrawn.
