In Venezuela, the deadline for registering candidates who will run for president ends this Monday, March 25. While nine candidates have already registered, the current president, Nicolas Maduro, must register today.

However, there remains a question mark concerning the main opposition candidate, replacement for Maria Corina Machado who is banned from running. The opposition denounces a strategy by the authorities to prevent real representation of opponents during the election on July 28. The unitary platform that unites the major opposition parties in Venezuela requires three more days.
