Senegalese President Macky Sall announced the indefinite postponement of the presidential election on February 25. The announcement followed the opening of a parliamentary investigation targeting two judges of the Constitutional Council.

The president announced the establishment of a “national dialogue” for “a free, transparent and inclusive election” The Ad hoc Committee notes that Senegal has never experienced a serious institutional rupture since its presidential election and the postponing of the vote is a unilateral and abrupt halt to the electoral process.
