Joe Lieberman, former vice presidential candidate, dies at the age of 82. Lieberman has had one of the strangest careers in US politics.

For a long time he remained on the right wing of the Democrats. As an independent, he tipped the scales in the Senate on issues such as the Iraq invasion. He was a co-founder of "No Labels", an organization that wants to put forward its own candidate for the presidential election in November. Lieberman had always emphasized that he under no circumstances wanted to contribute to Donald Trump moving back into the White House.
