The head of the European Commission agreed with US President Joe Biden on the preparation of sanctions against Russia. Biden was alarmed by intelligence data on the accumulation of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine, according to Politico sources.

On April 14, European Commissioner for Financial Stability Mairead McGuinness said that the EU was preparing to introduce the 11th package of anti-Russian sanctions. Earlier, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that anti- Russian sanctions could lead to a global economic crisis.
