Peskov: Putin’s pardon of 52 women is connected with the past meeting of the Human Rights Council. In December, the president agreed that decisions should be made to grant amnesty to certain categories of women in prison for non-violent crimes.

This decision affected women with minor children, pregnant women, as well as women whose relatives are participating in a special operation in Ukraine. The president signed a decree pardoning 52 convicted women on March 8. The decree was signed in the context of a discussion held at a meeting of the Human rights Council, a Kremlin spokesman said.
