Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was not allowed to contest as a party in Thursday's elections. Preliminary official results give 26 seats to independent candidates linked to the PTI for the legislative election, five more than the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) of the Sharif family. If these results are confirmed, none of the three blocs seems able to obtain an absolute majority and govern alone.
