Orban, isolated, gives in to NATO pressure and gives the green light to Sweden's entry. Hungary has been the last NATO member to accept Sweden's entered into the Alliance.

Almost two years after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Finland and Sweden, fearing a threat from Russia, applied to join NATO. Finland's accession was quickly approved by all 30 Member States and ratified by the Hungarian Parliament. Hungary rejected ratification for various reasons. The Turks conditioned ratification on the expulsion of Kurdish nationalists whom they described as terrorists.
