Russian human rights body condemns torture of detainees in Moscow attack. Part of the ear of one of the suspected militants was cut off during his interrogation.

Four main defendants showed clear injuries when they appeared before a court in Moscow last Sunday. Kremlin refused to comment - yesterday, Monday - when asked whether the defendants had been subjected to torture. The Russian Constitution prohibits torture, and Russia is a signatory to the U.N. Convention against Torture. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack that killed at least 139 people.
