Indian Navy and Seychelles Navy rescue two fishing boats from pirate control. 17 crew members of an Iranian fishing vessel and six crew of a Sri Lankan vessel were rescued.
Pirates had hijacked the fishing boats in different places. The number of pirate attacks off Somalia had fallen sharply since 2017, pirates boarded a ship for the first time last December. Since the war between Israel and the Islamist Palestinian organization Hamas began in early October, Yemen's pro-Iranian Houthi militia has repeatedly attacked cargo ships.
