North Korean leader Kim Jong-un once again inspected the military's tank unit, which is said to have occupied South Korea's capital Seoul during the Korean War in the 1950s. Kim has been inspecting artillery units and firing training for short-range ballistic missiles called ''super-large rocket artillery,'' indicating that in addition to nuclear and missile development, the country is also strengthening its conventional military capabilities.

South Korean media has also reported that North Korea is facing a fuel shortage due to economic sanctions imposed by the international community.
