New York Police launched a campaign against street vendors selling Islamic goods. The campaign took place just two days before the beginning of Ramadan.

The number of vendors in public places in New York is estimated at about 20,000. The procedures for granting licenses are slow, as about 11,000 people are still on the waiting list to obtain a license to sell Islamic goods in the city, according to a report in the British Middle East Eye. The report said that many of the vendors are now facing challenges to pay their bills.
