A New York jury found Donald Trump guilty Tuesday, May 9, of sexually assaulting former journalist and writer E. Jean Carroll in the 1990s.

The federal civil court in Manhattan also ruled that it must pay some $5 million in damages for the sexual assault and defamation beginning with Carroll's disclosure in 2019. The former Elle magazine columnist said Donald Trump raped her in a fitting room at a New York department store, Bergdorf Goodman, in the spring of 1996. Trump accuses the civil party of "falsely accusing him in a book of rape and of working with the press"
