The egg producer CA Cedergren outside Mönsterås has previously been severely affected by salmonella infection. Now the bacterium is once again suspected to have been discovered at the farm's packing plant.

The affected eggs must have been stopped and the Swedish Board of Agriculture's infection control manager emphasizes that there is no widespread infection among the animals. At that time, 164,000 laying hens had to be killed and the affected eggs stored in the packing plant were stopped from reaching consumers.
