The Senate approved on Tuesday a sensitive constitutional revision on the expansion of the electoral body of the provincial election of New Caledonia. The upper house adopted this constitutional bill at first reading by 233 votes to 99, despite opposition from the three left-wing groups.

The reform, now transmitted to the National Assembly, aims to unfreeze the electoralBody of the Provincial ballot, to open it to natives and residents established for at least ten years in the archipelago. More information to follow.
