A study published in the journal Science Advances found that a self-regulating network of silver nanowires learns and remembers in the same way that human thinking systems do. The technology can be applied to create artificial intelligence systems capable of learning and adapting.

The results of the study could pave the way for the development of new types of electronic devices capable oflearning and adapting to their environment. However, we are still far from matching the computational power and sensory integration capabilities of the human brain.
