Dr. Ibrahim El-Sherbiny is the founding director of the Nanoscience Program at Zewail City of Science and Technology in Egypt.
He recently succeeded in finding a solution through nanotechnology to the problem of eye drops. Poor countries are still unable to develop a national project to invest in this technology, he says. He says there are several reasons that developing countries can contribute to the innovation of new medicines, such as an alternative to eye drops, which could be the most appropriate innovation.
