Nankai University alumnus wins top UK science award for research in adaptive optics. Liang Junzhong won the 2024 Ranke Prize (in the field of optoelectronics) for his original and innovative research on the application of adaptive optics to retinal microscopic imaging.

There are only a handful of Chinese people in the world who have won the Ranke prize. Previously, only Yuan Longping, the "father of hybrid rice", Nie Shuming, who "realized quantum dot nanocrystals as biolabels", and Gao Kun have won this award.
