At least 73,000 people have arrived in Sudan's neighbouring countries since mid-April. The majority of people have so far fled to Chad and South Sudan.

This is the first time UNHCR has published such a precise figure to quantify the number of people who could flee to neighbouring countries. The fighting has been between the two generals in command of the country since their 15 putsch since April 2021, trapping millions of Sudanese in the middle of a humanitarian crisis. The UN has warned that if the fighting doesn't end, more people will be forced to flee.
