More than 140,000 people overcome the "annual income barrier" and enroll in social insurance by using subsidies. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare will use subsidies for companies that work to ensure that employees' take-home income does not decrease even if they work beyond the annual income barrier.

The government will provide up to 500,000 yen per employee to companies that last year established allowances to supplement insurance premiums. By the end of January, 3,749 businesses nationwide had submitted plans to utilize this subsidy.
