The former mayor of Toulon has been sentenced to three years in prison for embezzling public funds. The sentence is suspended for two years, with the possibility of a third year in prison if he does not comply with the terms of his sentence.

The former mayor is also banned from holding public office for five years, unless he is found guilty of a crime. He is also barred from being a member of the French National Assembly for the rest of his life, and from the French Senate for life, if he is convicted.
