Mikhail Kovalchuk, president of the Kurchatov Institute, said that in the United States, where Russian RD-180 rocket engines were supplied, they could not determine the composition of the alloy from which they are made. He added that the difficulties with the creation of alloys for the production of engines are typical not only for the space, but also for the aircraft industry.

This, he said, limits the number of countries that have the ability to produce engines for fighter jets.
