Several dozen NGOs, including Lawyers Without Borders, the Tunisian League for Human Rights and Open Arms, have signed a joint statement. They consider that Tunisia is now a dangerous country for migrants and refugees who are rescued at sea.
The signatory NGOs call on the European Union to cease its collaboration with Tunisia in this area. Tunis, according to the signatory associations, would have received 37 million euros between 2016 and 2020 from Europeans. A situation that can no longer last given the authoritarian turn taken by the country.
