M4.8 earthquake hits eastern U.S. No major disruption.

People in New York felt the shaking. The shaking was felt even in the center of New York City, about 70 kilometers east of the epicenter. According to New York Governor Hoechle, the scale of the shaking was the largest since the 5.8 magnitude earthquake that occurred in southern Virginia in 2011.
