Lavrov did not confirm the discussion of the presence of Russian border guards in Armenia. On February 27, Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan expressed the opinion that Russia should withdraw its border guards from Zvartnots International Airport.
According to him, Armenian forces are capable of defending their borders themselves. As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously noted, Yerevan did not appeal to Moscow with a request to withdraw Russian borderguards from Z vart nots airport.
