Violent clashes between ethnic Serbs and NATO peacekeepers in Kosovo. Militants said to have broken bones and suffered burns.

EU foreign policy chief warns of even more violence in the region. The majority of Serbs in Kosovo have never accepted Kosovo's independence, which was declared in 2008. The violence escalated quickly and was also directed against the NATO peacekeeping force. The police, made up of ethnic Albanians, used tear gas to try and break up the protests. The EU has appealed to both sides to de-escalate the violence.
