Justice Minister Marco Buschmann presented initial ideas for the so-called community of responsibility. This means that people should take legal responsibility for each other outside of marriage - in terms of care, housing and finances.
In the future, up to six adult people will be able to join together in a community. People who decide to care privately for someone in the community could be treated the same as relatives. The CDU and CSU are already warning about the potential for abuse of the new regulations.
