Felice Palamara, priest of the Calabrian parish of Pannaconi, Italy, was the victim of an attempted poisoning. The wine, which he was about to put to his lips during the celebration of the Eucharist, actually contained bleach.

Intimidation occurred in a context of tensions with the local mafia. A dead cat was placed on the roof of a priest's vehicle, in the neighboring town of Cessaniti. Police are currently examining CCTV footage to try to identify those responsible.
