Israel reports death of prominent Hamas official during operation at Shifa Hospital. His brother was killed by the Mossad in Dubai in 2010, and now Israeli soldiers have shot Faik al-Mabhouh.
He headed a Hamas internal security department - and apparently hid among civilians. Eyewitnesses reported intense gunfire inside the hospital. There were reports that a journalist from the Arabic channel Al-Jazeera was among dozens of people arrested at the clinic. The Israeli army and intelligence agency also said: "20 terrorists have been eliminated so far in various confrontations"
