Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei vows retaliation to make people regret their crimes. Iran's embassy in Syria, in the Middle East, was attacked in what was believed to be an Israeli attack, in which senior military leaders were killed.

The slain commander, Brigadier General Zahedi, belonged to the Quds Force, a unit of the Revolutionary Guards that mainly carries out special missions overseas, and was active in Syria and Lebanon. The report also cited Israeli media and reported that the Israeli government had long been a target for assassination.
