Iran-backed militia group poised to continue attacks on US military bases. Amid growing local opposition to the US military's airstrikes in Iraq and Syria in retaliation for attacks that killed soldiers, Iranian support is growing.

The Islamic Resistance Movement of Iraq, a paramilitary group supported by Iran, issued a statement saying that on the 4th, it used a drone to attack a base where American troops are stationed in Deir Ezzor province in eastern Syria. A human rights organization that collects information in Syria says that seven Kurdish forces working with American forces at the base were killed. The United States' retaliatory measures were aimed at deterring attacks, but there is no prospect of an end to the conflict.
